How do I book a train ticket on Rail Monsters platform?

It’s simple: search, select, pay, receive.

Choose your class and number of passengers

The system will show seat types (e.g. reserved, non-reserved, 1st or 2nd class) and whether tickets are refundable.

You can buy a single trip immediately or add multiple routes to your cart before checking out.

Pay using your preferred method

How long does booking take?

Most bookings on Rail Monsters take under 2 minutes from search to payment.

We’ve streamlined the process with:

• No password required — login via one-time code (OTP)

• Automatic passenger details for returning users

• Instant payment confirmation

You don’t need to register in advance or verify your email before booking. It’s designed to be fast, secure, and mobile-friendly.

Can I choose my seat when booking?

Seat selection depends on the route, country, and supplier.

• In some cases, seats are automatically assigned by the ticketing system at the time of booking.

• On certain routes, you may be able to choose your exact seat before payment — if the supplier supports seat maps and selection.

• In select cases, Rail Monsters uses an AI-based seat assignment engine that pre-selects the best available seats based on route-specific parameters. For example, if you're traveling from Tokyo to Kyoto, the system may automatically place you on the right-hand side of the train — where Mt. Fuji is visible — even if you didn’t manually select a seat.

We’ll always show whether your ticket includes a reserved seat and what class it's in. If seat selection is available, it will be clearly offered before checkout.

How do I know if my ticket is refundable or changeable before booking?

Each ticket in the search results includes information about fares and cancellations/refunds and showing if it’s:

• Refundable

• Partially refundable

• Non-refundable

You can also click “More Info” to view:

• Cancellation deadlines

• Refund conditions (e.g. % refunded)

• Whether modifications are allowed

Everything is shown clearly before payment — so there are no surprises after you book.

Is it possible to book train tickets in advance?

Yes. Rail Monsters supports advance booking for most countries.

• Some tickets are issued instantly, even months in advance

• Others (especially in Japan, Italy, France, etc.) are held until the supplier releases inventory — usually 28 days before departure

We call this “Advanced Reservation.” You’ll still get your confirmation right away, and your ticket will be delivered automatically once it becomes available. No need to rebook or follow up.

As well this system has a price lock - if the price change - we take the hit on us. That’s why the it’s more interesting to book train tickets in advance. Trains inventory is very similar to Flights - meaning that the price is likely to increase the closer the departure date and the availability of that inventory.

Do I get a booking confirmation immediately?

Yes. Once payment is completed, you’ll immediately receive:

• A confirmation email

• A booking ID (e.g. JP101827188)

• Booking status in “My Account” (e.g. “Confirmed / Issued” or “Confirmed / Pending Ticket”)

If your ticket is available, it will be delivered instantly. If not, it will be issued automatically once the supplier allows it (for example, 28 days before departure for some countries).

Can I cancel or modify just one trip if I booked multiple?

Yes — each order is treated individually, even if booked in the same cart.

That means you can cancel, refund, or rebook a specific route without affecting the others, as long as it follows the cancellation rules shown before booking.
