Are trains wheelchair accessible?

Yes — most modern trains and stations across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East are designed with accessibility in mind, though the level of accessibility varies depending on the country, route, and train type.

In general:

• Many trains offer dedicated wheelchair spaces and accessible toilets

• Boarding ramps or lifts are available at major stations, but smaller stations may not have staff on hand

• Some routes require a pre-booking of accessibility services — Rail Monsters shows this when supported

We’re continuously expanding support for accessibility requests and always recommend checking your country-specific travel guide for detailed information.

How can I request assistance for boarding or station access?

In many countries, special assistance services must be requested at least 24–48 hours before travel. This can include:

• Help boarding or exiting the train

• Meeting you at a station entrance

• Assistance with baggage or transfers between platforms

Some rail suppliers allow you to request this directly via their system. If you’re booking on Rail Monsters and need support, just email us at [email protected] after placing your order — we’ll coordinate with the rail supplier where possible.

Note: Not all services are available last minute — especially at smaller stations — so plan ahead.

Can I travel with a mobility aid or electric scooter?

Yes — manual and electric mobility aids are usually allowed on board, but must meet certain size and battery regulations.

General guidelines:

• Devices must be under 120 cm in length and fit in designated areas

• Electric scooters or wheelchairs must use sealed batteries (e.g. gel or lithium-ion)

• Some trains may require a reservation for space
