You can’t change the date or time directly — as a general rule - you can cancel your ticket and book a new one.
Here’s how it works:
• If your ticket is refundable or changeable, go to My Account → Cancellations & Modifications
• Our system will show whether cancellation is allowed and calculate any applicable fees in real time
• If you accept the refund conditions, you can cancel the ticket and rebook a new one instantly
We do not manually change departure times, classes, or dates. All modifications must go through the cancellation + rebooking flow — as per the policy of the rail supplier.
⚠️ Important: Cancellations are not allowed within 24 hours of departure.
Because rail suppliers don’t support partial changes — once a ticket is issued, it becomes a final product with fixed data (not like a flight ticket).
Most national rail systems issue tickets with strict tracking codes, passenger details, and seat assignments. That’s why:
• We can’t “modify” the ticket directly
• The only available action is to cancel and place a new order — subject to rules and timing
Yes — if your ticket hasn’t been issued yet (for example, you're in Advanced Reservation mode), we may be able to change the date or time for free, as long as:
• Ticket is not issued yet
• The same fare and class are still available for your new travel time
In this case, contact our team at [email protected] as soon as possible. We'll check the status and availability, and if conditions are met, we’ll update your booking manually without needing to cancel.
Important: once the ticket is issued, changes are only possible via the normal cancellation and rebooking process, depending on the supplier's refund policy.
We strongly advise booking the new ticket first, then canceling the old one.
Here’s why:
• Seat availability changes quickly — especially in high season or popular routes
• Once a ticket is canceled, it can’t be recovered
• If the new ticket is no longer available, you may end up without any valid option
That’s why we recommend: secure the new seat first, then cancel the original from your account. The system will show you the refund amount before you confirm.
This is a strict rule set by the rail supplier, not Rail Monsters.
In almost every country, tickets become locked 12-24 hours before departure. At that point:
• No cancellations or changes are permitted
• The system marks the ticket as “Final & Non-Refundable”
• Even if the train hasn’t departed, the supplier closes access to refunds or rebooking
We display this rule at checkout, in your ticket confirmation, and again in “My Account.”
