I made a typo in my name — is my ticket still valid?

In most countries, small typos in the passenger’s name do not invalidate the ticket — especially if the ticket is non-personalized or if ID verification is not required to board.

Examples of minor issues that are usually acceptable:

• Misspelling of 1–2 letters

• Using "Jon" instead of "Johnathan"

• Reversing first and last name order

However, in countries where ID is required (e.g. China, Saudi Arabia, Portugal), the name on the ticket must exactly match the passport or ID used for boarding. If the name does not match, boarding may be denied.

Can I correct the name after booking?

Only if the ticket has not yet been issued — and only for eligible countries.

If your order is still in "Pending Ticket" or "Advanced Reservation" status:

• Contact [email protected] immediately

• Let us know the correct name and booking reference

• If allowed by the supplier, we’ll update the name before issuance or after — free of charge

Generally, only few countries allow the changes after tickets is issued. This is due to the way national rail systems register and lock the booking.

I used a nickname instead of my passport name — is that okay?

It depends on the country.

If you're traveling in a country where no ID is required (like most routes in Austria, Germany, or France), then yes — tickets are usually not personalized and minor name issues don't matter.

But if you're in a country with strict ID matching (e.g. China or Saudi Arabia), you must use the exact full name as on your travel document. Otherwise, you may be refused boarding at the station.
