I was charged twice for the same booking — what should I do?

Start by checking if you received two booking confirmations or just one.

→ If you received only one order confirmation, then most likely one of the charges is a temporary hold (authorization) from your bank. This happens when the first attempt timed out, and the second succeeded. The first charge will disappear automatically within a few days — no action needed.

→ If you received two different booking confirmation emails with two order IDs, then both bookings went through. In that case, contact us immediately at [email protected]. We’ll check if the second order can be refunded or cancelled, depending on the rail supplier’s rules.

We investigate all double charges quickly and fairly — no need to dispute it with your bank unless advised by our support team.

How long does it take for a duplicate charge to disappear?

If it’s an authorization hold (pending charge), it usually disappears within:

Minutes or hours for modern banks and wallets (like Revolut, Wise, or N26)

Up to 7 business days for traditional or international banks

• Occasionally longer on weekends or public holidays

Rail Monsters cannot cancel a hold — only your bank can release it. We can confirm whether it was a true duplicate charge or a temporary hold if you email [email protected] with your payment proof.
