Can I get a refund if the train was delayed or canceled?

In most cases, yes — but it depends on the rail supplier’s policy.

Rail Monsters is a ticketing platform. When a train is canceled or significantly delayed, the rail supplier may offer a full or partial refund, or allow you to rebook. These decisions are made by the railway, not by us.

To request a refund due to delay or cancellation:

1. Email [email protected] with your booking number and a short explanation

2. We'll check the rail supplier's policy for that route

3. If compensation is possible, we’ll submit the request on your behalf

4. Processing time depends on the supplier and can take several days or weeks

Is compensation automatic for train delays?

No — most rail suppliers do not issue automatic compensation, even for long delays. You usually have to file a request.

In many countries (especially in Europe), rail companies require an official claim with proof of delay (e.g. station stamp, photos, or screenshots). We can guide you, but we do not decide on the outcome — the final decision is always with the supplier.

Can I cancel my ticket and get a refund if I see my train is delayed?

Not necessarily. Delay does not automatically make a ticket refundable.

If your ticket is non-refundable and the supplier hasn’t canceled the train officially, the normal refund rules still apply. However, if the delay is significant (over 60–120 minutes), some suppliers may accept refund requests on a case-by-case basis — contact us quickly at [email protected] so we can check for you.

Can I get rebooked instead of refunded if my train was canceled?

Sometimes, yes. Certain suppliers allow rebooking on the next available train at no extra cost.

This only applies if:

• The ticket is refundable or flexible

• The cancellation is confirmed by the supplier

• There’s another train available on the same day

Contact [email protected] as soon as you learn your train was canceled — we’ll check what options are available for your specific case.
