What happens if I book a ticket more than 28 days in advance?

If you book a train ticket more than 28 days before departure, our system will automatically place your order into Advanced Reservation mode.

Here’s what that means:

• Your booking is confirmed instantly — no need to check availability again later.

• Your ticket request is queued with the supplier and monitored by our system 24/7.

• As soon as the supplier opens ticket issuance for that route, your ticket is generated and delivered automatically — often within seconds.

• You don’t need to search again or worry about availability. You’re already in line — and we manage the process on your behalf.

This is especially useful during peak seasons (e.g. New Year in Japan, summer holidays in Europe), where trains can sell out within hours of release.

Will I lose my booking if I book before tickets are available?

No. That’s exactly what Advanced Reservation is designed to prevent.

When you book early, we secure your place in the supplier’s system — so as soon as tickets open, you're already in the queue. You don’t need to refresh, search again, or compete with other travelers trying to book manually at the same time.

You’re guaranteed to receive the ticket — as long as it’s issued successfully and your original conditions (passenger info, travel date, etc.) remain valid.

What if the price changes before the ticket is issued?

We lock your fare at the time of payment.

So if you book a Portugal ticket 6 months in advance for $50, and the supplier raises the price to $70 when the issuance window opens — we still issue your ticket at the original $50 price.

This is one of the key advantages of booking early through Rail Monsters. We take the risk, not you.

(Unless the route is discontinued or the ticket becomes unavailable — in that case, you’ll receive a full refund.)

How will I know when my ticket is actually issued?

You can track ticket status anytime from:

• Your confirmation email

• “My Account” on railmonsters.com

• The Rail Monsters app

Statuses you may see:

Confirmed / Pending Ticket → Your booking is valid and queued

Issued → Your ticket is ready and available for download

We also send a notification by email (and via app, if enabled) as soon as your ticket is delivered.

If you can’t find the answers you’re looking for, our support team is available to assist 24/7. Reach out to us for help with any topic not covered, whether it’s booking questions, route information, or other travel needs.
